China’s current account balance in 2004 was nearly US$68.7 billion.
Added to this total was US$54.9 billion in foreign direct investment (exceeding that invested in the United States).
When other investments, assets, and liabilities are brought into the calculation, the overall balance of payments was US$206.1 billion in 2004, compared with US$75.2 billion in 2002 and US$116.5 billion in 2003.
